I, personally, have an extreme interest in mythology and folk lore from around the globe. It both drives me to write and gives me a topic to concentrate my mind on when trying to develop a story and to make it as credible as possible. It also shows something that I believe todays western society as come to ignore. Many of us enjoy a good horror or fantasy but don't look any further into the story.
That's what I love the most about mythology. It shows people's ideas and beliefs around things that couldn't be described in their daily lives.
Whether I'm researching Hell Hounds, Lamias or Naga, it is rear I'm not thinking about what to do next revolving around this topic. I find it easy to get lost in the ideas and symbology and even easier to sit on the internet searching for the smallest information that I didn't know before.
I just hope that these stories and tales never get lost or forgotten, as I believe they can enrich us all.
If you want to see just what I research, and know a little more about why I do, visit my other blog at:
It's only new so doesn't have many different topics, but it's just a taste of what I hope it'll be one day.
